Former Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) chief Janette Garin has issued a statement anew about corruption issues within the state-run insurance firm.
On Wednesday, the incumbent Iloilo 1st District representative shared her encounter about apparent corruption within the agency.
“Masyado pong malakas ang mafia sa loob,” Garin said.
“When I joined the PhilHealth as the chairman of the board, ang unang-una kong experience noon hindi ako pinapayagang umupo sa board. Pilit na hinarang ng iilang nanandoon,” Garin added.
The ex-PhilHealth chief made the statement amid the investigations on the anomalies involving the state-run insurance company.

Meanwhile, the issue about PhilHealth corruption first erupted after resigned PhilHealth anti-fraud legal officer Thorrsson Montes Keith revealed in a Senate hearing that a whopping P15 billion worth of funds have been pocketed by the so-called ‘buwayas‘ in a “syndicate-like” transactions.
President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) to form a Task Force that will investigate the anomalies in the agency.
