EB Magalona mayor and some family members had tested positive for COVID-19.
EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon and some of his family members had tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
This news was confirmed by Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Francisco Benitez and Malacon’s lawyer Ariel Malunes.
On Wednesday night, Ariel Malunes confirmed that Mayor Malacon and some members of his immediate family had coronavirus and that they believed that they’re infected in Bacolod City.
Malunes also said that they’re currently confined in a Bacolod hospital and were recovering. He added that EB Magalona Vice Mayor Eric Matulac was currently in charge of running the town government so that there’s no disruption of public service.

Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Francisco Benitez said that Mayor Malacon was a “hands-on mayor” and a “frontliner” in this fight.
Benitez said that Malacon had checked himself into Riverside hospital in order to ensure the safety of others, and get proper monitoring and treatment.
He also said that the mayor was seemed to be recovering, adding that he hadn’t visited the EB Magalona town hall for some weeks in order for him to work from as suggested by health protocols.
