The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 16,459 newly-reported coronavirus recoveries in the Philippines for today, August 23, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #162 dated August 23, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,378 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 189,601.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Sunday were reported based on the total tests done by 99 out of 109 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 1,905 out of 2,378 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 10 to 23.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 55,236 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #162 dated August 23, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 23 only: Metro Manila with 1,022 new cases, Cavite with 132 new cases, Laguna with 128 new cases, Rizal with 115 new cases, and Cebu with 96 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 16,459 newly-reported recoveries and 32 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 131,367 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,998.
