The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 157,918 with over 4,300 new cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 15, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #154 dated August 15, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,351 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 157,918.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Saturday were reported based on the total tests done by 96 out of 103 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,469 out of 4,351 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days – from August 2 to 15.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 885 new recoveries and 159 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 72,209 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,600.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 83,109 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #154 dated August 15, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 15 only: Metro Manila with 2,460 new cases, Laguna with 232 new cases, Cavite with 211 new cases, Cebu with 187 new cases, and Rizal with 184 new cases.
