Knowledge Channel was ready and prepared to work with the national government as the Philippines shifted to distance learning because of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Edric Calma, the director for operations at Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc., the KCFI had acquired and created over a thousand video lessons wherein all videos were based on the Department of Education’s K-12 curriculum and these are ready for use.
In addition, Knowledge Channel was also ready to share its video lessons that can reach up to 7.6 million students, which was a large portion of the 27 million students expected to enroll in the academic year 2020-2021.
Calma also said that the KCFI had developed into video format wherein 50% of MELC or the most essential learning competencies that the Department of Education required to be taught for the academic year and KCFI could easily develop the remaining 50%.

Moreover, Calma said that the minimum curriculum-prescribed skills that Filipino students may acquire were the most essential learning competencies.
Calma also mentioned that the 21st century curriculum of the Department of Education was about creating and understanding systems, designs, and processes compared to the previous curriculum when students were only required to memorize.
