DOH reported over 38,000 new COVID-19 recoveries. Here’s why!
The Department of Health on Thursday released a statement stating the reason why the DOH reported over 38,000 new COVID-19 recoveries.
It stated that the newly-recorded recoveries were reported due to its “enhanced data reconciliation efforts” with the local government units (LGUs) through its “OPLAN RECOVERY”.
This, as the Department of Health reported a total of 38,075 recoveries in its recent case bulletin, which brought the total number of recoveries to 65,064 as of 7:00 p.m. of July 30.
Also, the DOH reported 3,954 newly-confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) wherein 1,320 out of 3,954 cases were classified as fresh cases and 2,634 were identified as late cases — which wasn’t reported in its case bulletin.
Moreover, the DOH reported that 37,166 out of 38,075 new recoveries were from OPLAN RECOVERY, while the remaining 909 were “validated recoveries” from the reports that were submitted from the regional epidemiological surveillance units.

According to the Department of Health, the “OPLAN RECOVERY” was an initiative that the DOH activated in order to monitor the status of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease.
The Department of Health — through its COVIDKaya platform — earlier this month created its COVID-19 Surveillance and Quick Action Unit wherein it focused more on data collection, validation, and reconciliation of data available at the national and local levels.
The massive information reconciliation efforts had resulted in a “faster” and “more accurate” tagging of health status — particularly on recoveries and fatalities. In addition, the data on recovery reconciliations would be reported every 15 days according to the Department of Health.
Moreover, the reconciliation activity had resulted in more than 3,000 identified recoveries from July 12 to 14.
