Angel’s Burger filed a cyber libel complaint against a Facebook user

CYBER LIBEL COMPLAINT – Angel’s Burger recently filed a case against a Facebook user who posted a “staged photo” of a coin inside the burger.

This, as the said image that was posted on Facebook was described as having a bitten-off burger with a “metal coin” inside the burger patty, and captioned it as, “Unang kagat may sukli agad”.

In a report on Philippine News Agency (PNA), Jose Alfredo Canlas de Leon – a complainant who was the brand manager of Angel’s Burger – said that the “malicious” posts on Facebook were “easily accessible and viewable” by any user who connected to the internet and was shared by over 39,000 Facebook users.

He added that the said netizen illegally communicated the “malicious imputations” against the company not only to his friends and followers on Facebook, but also to those who had access to the Internet.

As per the report, the lawyer representing Angel’s Burger said that the brand manager mentioned that the “libelous” article mentioned the company and included a product the netizen purported to be theirs, which staged to look like there’s a coin inside the burger patty.

Meanwhile, the lawyer of Angel’s Burger released a statement regarding the said case.
