Broadcaster Regis Philbin died at the age of 88.
Regis Philbin, an 88-year-old broadcaster and host, has died due to “natural causes”. His passing was confirmed by his family on Saturday (US time).
Philbin’s family said in a statement that was sent to CNN that his family and friends were forever grateful for the time that they got to spend with the late host — for his “warmth”, “sense of humor”, and a “singular ability” to make every single day into “something worth talking about”.
In addition, the family said that they thanked his fans and admirers for their support over his 60-year career, adding that they asked for privacy as they mourn Regis’ loss.

Philbin was the host of different television shows, pageants, and even game shows. In a report on CNN, he was inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame as well as the Television Academy Hall of Fame last 2006.
As per the report, Guinness World Records previously announced that he was a world record-holder for “most hours on US television” with more than 16,700 hours on-air.
Following Philbin’s death, Kathie Lee Gifford wrote a message to the late host saying that there were “no words” to express the love she had for her friend. She also said that it brought her “great comfort” knowing that Regis “had a personal relationship with his Lord that brought him great peace”.
