Baguio taxi driver is COVID-19 positive
A taxi driver from Baguio City has been tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said.
According to the city mayor, the latest COVID-19 patient of Baguio is a 60-year-old taxi driver.
This prompted the local government unit to place the taxi driver’s residence in Barangay Honeymoon and other neighboring houses under lockdown.
The latest COVID-19 of the city was tested at the Baguio Convention Center on June 9. He was one of the public utility drivers who undergo swab testing for COVID-19.
Since Baguio has loosened quarantine restriction from GCQ to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), taxis and jeepneys were allowed to operate but in a limited capacity.
Based on the report of Inquirer.net, Magalong noted in a press conference that he’s not apt to lift the quarantine status of the city until the rate of the infection declines particularly in areas where cases continue to surge such as in Metro Manila.
As of posting, the summer capital of the Philippine has already recorded 37 cases of COVID-19.
Coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic continues to devastate the entire world.
