MyPhone will give free cellphones for Grade 10 students in partnership with ASGC.
MyPhone, in partnership with Academia System Global Colleges (ASGC) in Talisay City in Cebu, will give free cellphones for Grade 10 completers.
This, as students will shift into a “new normal” learning set-up as mandated by the Department of Education (DepEd). With this, Academia System Global Colleges took their part in order to support their students.
This made Academia System Global Colleges the first school in the Philippines to give free cellphones to its students.
Dr. Ferdinand Yap Tomakin, the President of Academia System Global Colleges, said that providing free cellphones to its students was the school’s ultimate manifestation of its commitment in giving optimum and quality learning.
Tomakin also said that the Academia System Global Colleges would be able to reach out especially to the underprivileged students by keeping true to its philosophy that education was a “fundamental right” and “not a privilege”.
In a report on Gizguide, students at the Academia System Global Colleges who will receive free cellphones could easily communicate with their respective teachers via text messaging or online.
However, as per the report, if a student has decided not to receive a cellular phone from MyPhone, he/she would still be entitled to a free allowance of PHP 500.00, free educational supplies, free P.E. uniform, and other inclusions in connection to ASGC’s offer of free tuition, miscellaneous, and other school fees for Grade 10 completers from public schools.
Kevin Tan, the Vice President of MyPhone, said that the company was happy that Academia System Global Colleges reached the right phone brand as MyPhone also wanted to tap students in its future projects.
Tan also said that the company had been providing quality and affordable phones for the Filipino citizens since 2007, adding that being partnered with Academia System Global Colleges was “a great opportunity” for MyPhone in order to reach the right market with its gadgets.
