Michael Jordan spoke up about racial injustice to the African – American community.
NBA legend Michael Jordan on Sunday spoke about the damage racial injustice has done to the African – American community.
In an exclusive interview with the Charlotte Observer, Jordan said that the African – Americans had been “beaten down for so many years” and they would need to make a stand as they have got to be “better as a society regarding race”.
Jordan also said that the African – American community would extend a hand and understand the inequalities in order to change racist behaviors.
Aside from speaking up about racial injustice, Jordan also revealed his approach to philanthropy.
Previously, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand will give USD 100 million over the next 10 years to organizations “dedicated” to ensuring racial equality, social justice, and education. In a joint statement, it said that Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand will remain committed to protecting AND improving the lives of African – Americans until the “ingrained racism” was “completely eradicated”.
Jordan said in an interview that he and Jordan Brand will make it go in a way that would make a difference, adding that attacking ingrained racism and supporting educational opportunity would be a “necessary step in society”. He also said that he was challenging the public to “effect change however they can“.
