Iza Calzado donates blood plasma
Actress Iza Calzado became emotional as she shares to her more than 1.5 million followers on Instagram that finally, she was able to donate her blood plasma.
It was in March when she was hospitalized due to pneumonia and later on, it was found out that she is positive for coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
But after certain medications and undergoing isolation, she was cured, and eventually, her test result for COVID 19 turned out negative.
When the government announced that COVID-19 survivors may donate plasma- which is said to have anti-bodies that could fight the coronavirus, Iza Calzado was among those who pledge to donate blood plasma.
However, according to Inquirer.net, she initially failed to become eligible to donate her blood plasma due to low hemoglobin levels.
But on Friday, June 13 (Independence Day), she became emotional after announcing that she’s able to donate her blood plasma.
Here’s the caption of her Instagram post:
“June 12 has always been a special day because it is my Mother’s birthday and the independence day of my Motherland. 🇵🇭 This year, it became even more meaningful. After failing several tests to be an eligible plasma donor for Covid-19, because of low hemoglobin levels, I was cleared to donate last Tuesday. I never knew that giving my blood would be such an emotional moment for me. Perhaps it’s because, as a Covid-19 Survivor, I truly felt that this was one of the most powerful ways I could help my fellow Filipinos during this time. As the doctor played “Bayan Ko” my tears and my blood flowed. It gave me so much hope to think that maybe I could help restore someone’s health and that, through our collective efforts, we can restore our country’s well being and make it better. Love and Light!”
