Frankie Pangilinan supports Maria Ressa
Recording artist Frankie Pangilinan expressed through her recent Twitter post that she stands with Rappler chief executive officer Maria Ressa.
The Manila Regional Trial Court, under the decision of Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa, found the online news company’s head guilty of cyber libel charges. The same decision goes with former report Reynaldo Santos.
Businessman Wilfredo Keng filed the case against them due to an alleged libelous article against him that was published in 2012 and was republished in 2014 due to a spelling correction.
Behind the decision of the Manila RTC, several journalists and news personalities sowed support for Maria Ressa. Several netizens also did the same as #IStandWithMariaRessa topped the Twitter trend early part of June 15.
Among the popular personalities who joined this campaign to show support to the Rappler CEO is Frankie Pangilinan. In her recent post, she said, “we stand with maria ressa.”
Several of her social media followers agreed to what she posted as they are also supporting Ressa in her legal battle. Some even mentioned that there is another personality who deserves to be convicted of cyber libel.
Just recently, based on a report, Frankie Pangilinan also made a stand regarding the concept that the outfit of a woman can be a reason behind the occurrence of harassment.
She went against prominent TV and radio personality Ben Tulfo. The daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Senator Francis Pangilinan is known to be very vocal when it comes to expressing her views and opinions.
Her social media platforms have become her channel to call out the attention of an individual or group, and to give her side on certain issues.
