Coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 35,000, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported that the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in the Philippines already reached over 35,000.
This, as the Department of Health reported 653 new COVID-19 cases wherein 485 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 168 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 35,455 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 28, 2020.
For “fresh” cases, 245 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 120 were from Central Visayas, eight repatriates, and the remaining 112 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 111 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 11 were from Central Visayas, 21 repatriates, and the remaining 25 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Sunday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 258 additional recoveries and eight new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 9,686 and total fatalities to 1,244.
