Chun Li was a graduate of Peking University as he’s holding a double degree in Economics Law and Mechanics. Also, he was a graduate of Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the Ohio State University.

In terms of his 20-year working experience, he was considered as a “veteran internet executive” as he was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Alibaba’s B2B
business unit. He also held executive positions at InPro Systems, eBay, and Paypal.
Chun had been with Alibaba Group since 2014 and he then moved to Lazada last 2017. He also served as Lazada Indonesia’s Group President and Chief Executive Officer in 2019.

Just recently, Alibaba Group officially announced that the company appointed him as the new Chief Executive Officer of Lazada effective July 1, 2020. He was set to take over the role of Pierre Poignant, who would become a special assistant to Alibaba Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Zhang, as the CEO of Lazada Group.
Shortly after his appointment was announced by Alibaba group, he said in a sent email that he was excited about his opportunity to lead Lazada into the next chapter of the company’s journey. He added that he believed that the company was “well-positioned” in Southeast Asia in order to take advantage of the great opportunities in an evolving digital economy.
