Cebu City COVID-19 update
Cebu City has recorded a whopping 353 new cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 as of Tuesday, June 30 according to the city’s health department.
The Queen City of the South has already registered 5,141 confirmed cases with 2,259 active cases, 2,713 recoveries with 169 deaths.
Meanwhile, 67 employees of the Cebu City Hall have been tested positive for COVID-19 or Coronavirus Disease 2019 in the past weeks based on the statement of Spokesperson Rey Gealon.
According to Atty. Gealon, there are 12 city health personnel, 19 ambulance service, and 36 barangay health workers (BHWs) who have contracted the dreaded disease.
Based on the report of Manila Bulletin, four (4) have already died among the city hall employees who have been infected with COVID-19.
Sanitary Inspector Crisanto Ampier of the Cebu City Health, Engineer Danilo Gabiana of the Department of Public Services (DPS), barangay health worker Mamilie Garcia, and Councilor Antonio Cuenco were among the fatalities.
Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu earlier recommended the city to remain under Enhanced Community Quarantine(ECQ) until COVID-19 is contained.
“We have to contain cases bago luwagan ang ECQ. Then kung naluwagan ang ECQ, i-concentrate na dito sa lockdown, yung granular na tinatawag natin,”Cimatu said in a virtual briefing in Malacañang Palace.
