60 houses in Negros Oriental placed in lockdown
At least 60 houses in Mabinay, Negros Oriental have been placed in lockdown following fears of contracting coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
Mabinay Vice Mayor Ernie Jango Uy told the press that one of the COVID-19 positives who came from Bacolod roam around Purok 3, Barangay Bugnay in Mabinay and apparently went drinking with his friends.
According to a report on TV Patrol which was published on its Facebook page, the patient allegedly went to four houses in the said Purok to drink liquor with his friends.
This prompted the local government to place it under lockdown including the 56 other neighboring houses.
Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion said that they are trying to locate the patient’s sibling who accompanied the latter on board a motorcycle.
The patient’s sibling will be placed under isolation and undergo swab testing.
The Provincial Epidemiological Surveillance Unit in Bacolod City Health Office will also conduct contact tracing to locate the people the COVID-19 positive encountered while in the city.
Meanwhile, three out of six COVID-19 positives recorded In Negros Oriental earlier came from Bacolod City.
The two got stranded in Bacolod while the other patient is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who came from Manila and quarantined in Bacolod.
It was in the last week of May when the patients undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test and their results turned out positive on Wednesday, June 3.
