Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Russia, said that he was tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
This, as Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in a video meeting with Russia President Vladimir Putin that he just learned that he took a COVID-19 test and the result was positive. He also said that he had to self-isolate and to follow doctors’ directives in order to protect other members of the Cabinet, adding that he also promised to be “in constant contact” on “all main issues”.
After knowing his test result, Mishustin suggested that First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov would take his place as the “acting” Prime Minister of Russia.
Russia President Vladimir Putin reassured Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that what’s happening to him today could happen to anyone, adding that he hoped that Mishustin will “stay able to work” and “will actively participate” in government decision-making.
Putin also told Mishustin that the government’s decisions would not be made without his participation and his opinions.
This came as Russia reported 7,099 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 in Russia as of this writing, with 101 additional fatalities and 11,619 total recoveries. Globally, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases already reached over 3.2 million as of this writing, with 233,444 total fatalities and over one million total recoveries.
