Negros Occidental Records New COVID-19 Cases Bringing Total To 7 Now
NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson confirmed a new COVID-19 case in the province.
One of the provinces in Visayas that recorded cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 is Negros Occidental. Previously, the province was placed under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which lasted until April 30.
The measure in the province was downgraded to a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) starting May 1. It is per the recommendation of the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 which was accepted by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The GCQ in the province will last until May 15. The situation will again be assessed to check whether the measure will be extended, lifted, or modified.
Amid the downgrading of the measure, everyone is reminded not to be complacent. Only essential purposes will be allowed to be catered outdoors.
Recently, another case of COVID-19 was recorded in Negros Occidental. It was confirmed by provincial Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson.
Based on an article on Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, the new coronavirus case is the 7th case of the disease recorded in the province. The patient is a 45-year-old man and a returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
The said patient is a resident of Talisay City. He arrived in Manila last March 19. He has travel histories to Brazil and Qatar and was quarantined for 14 days in Manila Hotel.
Based on the report, it was April 28 when the seafarer arrived in Negros Occidental. He is one of those who arrived through the 2Go Malasakit Voyage amid COVID-19 crisis.
According to Gov. Lacson, the patient is showing no symptoms of the disease. He is set to be transferred to the Provincial Healing Center in the municipality of E.B. Magalona.
