Marikina City Modifies Liquor Ban, Prohibits Drinking In Public

Marikina City Modified Its Liquor Ban Amid The Modified ECQ

The city government of Marikina on Saturday modified its liquor ban, which was the same day that the city started implementing its modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

This, after Marcelino Teodoro, the city mayor of Marikina, signed Ordinance No. 64 Series of 2020 modifying the liquor ban in the city.

As stated in the said ordinance, the city government of Marikina allowed the sale of liquors and other alcoholic drinks.

However, the said ordinance stated that the city government was prohibiting the drinking of alcoholic drinks in public places, including restaurants and bars, advising its residents to drink inside their houses while observing social distancing measures as well as other health and safety protocols.

As per the report, Quezon City and Pasay City on Friday lifted the liquor ban ahead of its transition to modified enhanced community quarantine. However, on Saturday, Pasay City clarified that the city government modified the liquor ban instead of lifting it.

“Bawal ang clingy”

The city government of Pasay set its guidelines on the modification of the liquor ban in the city. Here are some of the guidelines to follow:

  • Residents must observe physical distancing
  • Residents were not allowed to drink at the backyard, compound, or on public places
  • Social gathering was prohibited in the city.
