PDEA chief Aaron Aquino appointed as new Clark Airport head.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Chief Aaron Aquino has been appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as the new head of Clark International Airport Corporation.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed through a text message the appointment of Aaron Aquino.
“Aaron Aquino appointed Head of the Clark International Airport Corporation,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview with ANC that Aaron Aquino has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Clark International Airport Corporation last May 22, 2020.
He also stressed that the appointment of the former PDEA chief was not due to “loss of trust and confidence.”
“I can assure you that this is not a case of loss of trust or confidence. He was given a new assignment,” the presidential spokesman guaranteed.
In a report published by Manila Bulletin, Roque shared that the government is pleased for Aquino over his “immense contribution to the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.”
Earlier, Wilkins Villanueva made headlines after he posted a copy of his appointment paper as the new director-general of PDEA.
But Roque did not confirm Villanueva’s appointment because according to him, he is yet to secure a copy of the appointment paper.
Roque stressed that they can only announce the assignment of a certain individual to a higher post if the appointment paper has been released.
Roque believes that Villanueva would perform well in his reported appointment as the new PDEA chief.
“DG Villanueva is no stranger to drug law enforcement. He has been working with PDEA for many years before reaching the agency’s top position,” Roque noted.
“We, therefore, believe DG Villanueva will lead PDEA and the fight against illegal drugs to greater heights with professionalism, passion, and integrity,” added the presidential spokesperson.
