The DOTr was eyeing a program that would assist stranded students to safely return to their houses.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that the department was eyeing a program that would assist stranded students to safely return to their houses.
This, as the Department of Transportation on Tuesday said in a statement that the department will propose “Hatid Estudyante” program that was intended to coordinate the safe return of students — students who were currently stranded at their campuses, apartments, dormitories, and boarding houses — to their respective houses.
According to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, the department will initiate a program that would help stranded students to return to their respective provinces, cities, and municipalities, adding that the DOTr will launch this program once approved by the IATF.
The Department of Transportation will present the proposed program — the “Hatid Estudyante” program — to the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID).
Implementation Of “Hatid Estudyante” Program
For the supervision and implementation of the said program, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade assigned the following officials: Jay Santiago, the General Manager of the Philippine Ports Authority; Manuel Antonio Tamayo, the Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports; and Mark de Leon, the Assistant Secretary For Road Transport and Infrastructure.
To start the process, the Department of Transportation made an online enrolment platform wherein stranded students will fill-up the required information, as listed below:
- personal information
- current location
- destination
- health declaration
- school ID or proof of enrollment
The Department of Transportation advised stranded students to visit this link, fill in the necessary information, and prepare for required documents. With this, the information from the students will be collected and categorized accordingly, adding that this platform will be used to determine the feasibility of the said program.
