Recently, an FB post which was published by a certain Kyle Santelices generated mixed reactions and numerous comments online after the latter claimed via news that “DepEd announces Grade 13.”

However, in the fact-checking conducted by the news site, Rappler, it was found out that the apparent news is not true.

The post appears to be a screenshot of a news report featuring DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones.

The said post is being labeled with “live” and “breaking news,” following a headline “DepEd announces Grade 13.”

It is also accompanied by a statement of Briones: “Naawa ako sa mga seniors,” with memes of a blonde woman reacting to the so-called report.

But before the post has been flagged by Facebook’s Claim Check, a tool for fact-checking, it has already gained more than 35,000 reactions, 5,600 comments, and 110,000 shares.

The photo was also shared by a certain Facebook user identified as Mark Jayson Antiporda, generating 259 shares.

However, there is no real-score in the said claims.

According to the report published by the website, the screenshot which surfaced the social networking site was a meme generated by “breakyournews.com.”

In that particular website, users may be able to customize the news report template by altering the headline, image, and so on and so forth.

Meanwhile, DepEd did not release any announcement on the possibility of adding one year in the K to 12 basic education curriculum.

Secretary Briones did not divulge any statement as well, as being stated on the meme.
