General Santos City COVID-19 Patient Tests Positive Again for Coronavirus
COVID-19 PATIENT – A coronavirus patient in General Santos City who has already recovered from the disease tested positive again.
The coronavirus or COVID-19 has posed a huge challenge for the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is going to be a long-term battle against this disease that is a pandemic now as its impact went beyond the expectations.
Globally, the coronavirus that was first recorded in China has now infected over 3.6 million people. More than 1.1 million patients have recovered while over 250,000 died of the disease.
Philippines is one of the countries affected by COVID-19. According to the Department of Health (DOH), there is currently a total of 9,485 cases of the disease confirmed in the country.
Out of the total number, 623 coronavirus patients did not make it in their battle against the disease. On the positive side, there is now a total of 1,315 COVID-19 recoveries in PH.
However, this disease is really tricky. Recently, in General Santos City, a COVID-19 patient who has already recovered from the disease tested positive again.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the 59-year-old COVID-19 patient is the lone case of coronavirus in General Santos City. He was already discharged from the hospital last April 18 but his Oropharyngeal Swab (OPS) test result recently returned positive again.
According to the DOH, it was last April 28 when he was tested again for the disease. Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire expressed that the patient possibly turned out positive again due to the remnants of the virus but he is no longer contagious.
Based on the report, the said patient is the 11th case in the region. He has a travel history to Davao City which has confirmed cases of the disease. He went into a cockpit in Davao.
Currently, the said patient is under a 14-day quarantine. The authorities had his swab taken again and the result may be out soon.
