Beat COVID-19 Before Probing The Origin Of The Said Virus, According To China’s UN Ambassador
China’s UN Ambassador in Geneva on Wednesday said that China won’t invite international experts to probe the origin of COVID-19 until the “final victory” was achieved.
In an online briefing, Chen Xu, China’s UN Ambassador in Geneva, told reporters that the country’s main priority was to beat the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that China’s next step was to counter the “absurd and ridiculous” politicization of the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 in the United States.
According to Maria Van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 technical lead, a proper probing on the origin of the coronavirus disease or COVID-19 was “critical” as it was hard for the organization to detect and prevent the deadly virus without knowing its origin.
This, after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday said that there was “enormous evidence” presenting that the novel coronavirus was originated inside the laboratory in Wuhan.
Chen Xu countered Trump and Pompeo’s statements, saying that the mindset was “a constant problem” for some American politicians as they applied the approach that was against China.
As per the report, Chen Xu also said that Trump and Pompeo’s allegations were trying to “shift responsibility” as their purpose was “only deflection of their own failure”.
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the globe already reached over 3.68 million as of this writing, with more than 258,000 total fatalities and over 1.21 million total recoveries.
