Update on the Bacolod City Coronavirus / COVID-19 Cases
Bacolod City in Negros Occidental recorded two (2) new cases of coronavirus or COVID-19.
Starting May 1, several provinces and cities that implemented the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) downgraded the measure to a General Community Quarantine (GCQ). It is per the recommendation of the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the National IATF. The ECQ is extended in the high risk areas while the GCQ replaced the ECQ in low and medium risk areas.
Bacolod City is one of those cities to be downgraded to GCQ under the National IATF’s recommendation. However, new cases were confirmed before the expiration of the ECQ.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod appealed to the National IATF. They filed a resolution seeking for reconsideration to extend the ECQ until May 15.
Pres. Duterte approved the resolution of the SP. Currently, the city is under an ECQ while Negros Occidental has downgraded the measure to GCQ.
Recently, two (2) new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Bacolod City. Based on a report of Aksyon Radyo, the patients are a 27-year-old female resident of Barangay Granada and 42-year-old resident of Barangay Villamonte.
According to the report, the patients are among the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who returned to the country. Currently, they are quarantine in a health facility.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran expressed that both patients are showing no symptoms. They are patient 10 and 11 in the city.
Currently, aside from the ECQ implementation, the city is also implementing a lockdown on Sundays. Its border also implement strict checking upon entry for essential purposes.
