Negros Occidental Records 2 New Coronavirus Cases Amid GCQ Implementation
NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES – The province of Negros Occidental recorded two (2) new cases of COVID-19.
One of the provinces that is now under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) is Negros Occidental. The measure was downgraded from the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to GCQ starting May 1, 2020.
The National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 assessed that the province is one of those that are considered as low or medium risk areas. The said recommendation got the green signal from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental continues to implement several measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Measures were organized to make sure social distancing is observed.
The province is under the GCQ until May 15. With regards to whether it will be lifted, extended, or modified, it will depend on the situation assessment of the authorities.
Amid the global pandemic now and the GCQ implementation in the province, two (2) new coronavirus cases were recently recorded in Negros Occidental. It was confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6.
Based on a report on Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, one of the two (2) new coronavirus cases in Negros Occidental is a 30-year-old female. She is a resident of La Castellana.
The other new coronavirus patient is a 43-year-old male. Based on the report, he is a resident of Escalante City.
The two (2) new COVID-19 patients are among the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who went home. They are currently staying in a quarantine facility.
As of this writing, Negros Occidental has already recorded six (6) cases of COVID-19 in the province. Western Visayas got 91 confirmed cases of the disease in total now.
