Update on UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Condition After He Tested Positive for COVID-19
UK PRIME MINISTER – United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) over COVID-19 worsening symptoms.
The COVID-19 is currently the biggest global concern after it affected several nations across the globe. Declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as pandemic, this disease first emerged in Wuhan City, China.
The Chinese authorities locked Wuhan City for several weeks due to an outbreak. However, prior to the shutting down of the borders, several people who had left Wuhan or had visited the city were already infected.
The said new strain of coronavirus has an incubation period of up to two (2) weeks. It bears flu-like symptoms but with a different intensity that can lead to death.
The COVID-19 spares no one. In the United Kingdom, the head of the country is one of those who are infected by the disease. UK currently has over 51,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
It was more than ten (10) days ago when UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for COVID-19. However, he has yet to recovered and, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, was currently moved to the intensive care unit (ICU).
In a statement, the Downing Street said that the Prime Minister is admitted at St. Thomas Hospital in London. He is suffering from “persistent symptoms of coronavirus”.
Based on the report, the condition of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson who tested positive for COVID-19 worsened and his medical team decided to move him to the ICU.
Currently, it is Prime Minister Johnson’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab who represents him. Meanwhile, the Downing Street assured that the head of UK is receiving “excellent care”.
