Grand Princess’ Pinoy Crew Member Dies Due to Complication Caused by COVID-19
PINOY CREW MEMBER – A Filipino crew member of the Grand Princess cruise ship died due to COVID-19.
The Philippines is on a tough battle now. For several weeks now, the total confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country continues to increase and as well as the death toll.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), more people are being tested for coronavirus now and it is expected that the count will continue to increase. Currently, over 3,000 were recorded and more than 100 died of the said disease.
Abroad, there are also Filipinos who have contracted COVID-19. One of them is crew member of the Grand Princess cruise ship.
Unfortunately, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the said Pinoy crew member of the Grand Princess cruise ship died of COVID-19. It was confirmed by the Bay Area advocacy groups.
It was last month when the said crew member was transferred from the ship to a hospital in San Francisco. The male crew member died in the said hospital.
Based on the report, Philippine Consulate to San Francisco General Henry Bensurto Jr. said that before the man died, they tried to request if the daughter of the crew member could fly to the United States to see him.
But COVID-19 is really very contagious. The request of the family of the crew member was not granted for the safety of everyone. Despite of it, according to Bensurto, he had a video chat with his family before he passed away.
