Novel Writer Lualhati Bautista Lambasts Teacher For Allegedly Forcing Campus Journalist to Issue Public Apology After Criticizing Government
The novelist Lualhati Bautista criticized a teacher who was allegedly involved in harassment of UE campus journalist for lambasting the government online.
Last weekend, the Award-winning author Lualhati Bautista lambasted the teacher who reportedly forced its former student Joshua Molo to issue a public apology for criticizing the Philippine government.
The teacher is allegedly threatening Joshua Molo, the editor-in-chief of University of the East campus paper Dawn of a cyberlibel case for its distasteful remarks against the current administration.
The unidentified educator is the former teacher of Joshue at the Cabiao National High School in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
Bautista stressed out that the teacher’s role is to help the students to obtain academic knowledge and mold them with their own beliefs.

“Ang papel ng teacher sa buhay ng mga estudyante ay hindi lang para magturo ng mga araling-akademiko kundi higit sa lahat, hulmahin sila sa sariling paninindigan; hindi yung tiklop-tuhod na pagsunod sa gusto ng nakatataas, hindi ang diwa ng pangingibabaw ng malakas sa mahina, o nakatatanda sa nakababata. Walang karapatan ang mga guro o mga pinuno ng barangay na isalaksak sa lalamunan ng kabataan ang gusto nila. At gamitan ang kabataan ng pagbabanta o anupamang uri ng harassment hanggang sa mapasunod ito sa gusto nila. Mahiya kayo sa propesyon n’yo, sa pagka-pinuno n’yo, at sa sarili n’yo na rin!”
