Japan Reports New COVID-19 Cases From Italian Cruise Ship

Japan reported new fourteen cases confirmed from an Italian cruise ship docked in Nagasaki.

Japan on Thursday reported that another fourteen (14) cases confirmed from an Italian cruise ship docked in Nagasaki.

This, as NHK reported that the additional COVID-19 cases inside the Costa Atlantica cruise ship brought the total number of infected patients to at least 48.

In a report from Reuters, thirty-four (34) crew members inside the cruise ship had tested positive for the coronavirus disease as of Wednesday, April 22, 2020. The news came after the Diamond Princess cruise reported over 700 confirmed cases in Yokohama two months ago.

The Costa Atlantica cruise ship has no passengers and 623 crew members, according to the officials.

[UPDATE] In a live-streamed news conference, an official said that half of these patients were cooks, while the remaining half were in charge of serving food to crew members.
