Patient in QC Tests Positive for Coronavirus – Quezon City Mayor Belmonte
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte announced that a patient in the city tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus.
The total confirmed coronavirus cases in the Philippines now has reached 49. Based on the information released by the Department of Health (DOH) most patients are in Metro Manila.
Coronavirus was first recorded in China where it had an outbreak infecting over 70,000 people. The said disease with flu-like symptoms have taken more than 2,000 lives globally.
In the Philippines, it was just recently when coronavirus records were ignited after two (2) Filipinos tested positive for the disease. In a matter of few days, the tally rose to 49 confirmed cases.
Local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines also take part in informing the public about the confirmed cases in the area. Among those that made announcement were the mayors of Quezon City and Pasig City.
Recently, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte gave an update regarding the coronavirus cases in QC. She confirmed that another patient tested positive for COVID-19.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Belmonte expressed that the patient is a 26-year-old male whose results were out on Thursday. He is a resident of Barangay West Crame.
The Quezon City Mayor further expressed that the patient has no recent travel history abroad. Based on the report, his family will also undergo testing after the mother, speaking to DZMM, revealed that his siblings are starting to have cough.
“Iyong nanay nagsasabing iyong mga ibang anak nagkakaroon na rin po ng kaunting ubo-ubo. Sana hindi connected,” Mayor Belmonte said.
Currently, there are five (5) confirmed cases of coronavirus in Quezon City. One of them is a 27-year-old doctor who contracted the virus while treating a patient in a hospital outside QC.
