Mongolia Records Its 1st Coronavirus Case

MONGOLIA – The authorities confirmed the 1st case of the 2019 novel coronavirus in the country.

Several countries are now in the pursuit of containing the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. It was first detected in China in December 2019 and it has left the country under an outbreak with more than 70,000 infections and over 2,000 deaths.

Iran, Italy, and South Korea are among the countries with high cases of coronavirus. Unfortunately, the number of infections and deaths in Italy spike which prompted a lockdown in the country.

Initially, the lockdown covered only the Lombardy region and 14 provinces in the country. However, the increase in the coronavirus cases continued which prompted Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte to extend it to the whole nation.

Aside from those countries being on a tough battle against coronavirus, several countries are confirmed their 1st cases of the disease daily. One of them is Mongolia.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN, Mongolia recently recorded its 1st case of coronavirus in the country with a French national who tested positive for the disease. The said patient is working in the country.

According to the statement released by the National Emergency Commission, the patient was from France who transited through Moscow. Based on the report, the contact tracing is conducted by the government.

The authorities have already identified 42 people that the patient has met in the country. Around 142 people who had a close contact with the French national were also identified.
