Coronavirus Cases in Italy Results To Lock-Down of Lombardy Region & 14 Provinces
ITALY – The Italian government decided to lock-down Lombardy region and 14 provinces to curb the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus.
One of the national governments that are highly-faced with a huge challenge now posted by the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus is the Italian government. The country is greatly affected by the disease that was first recorded in China.
It was in late December 2019 when the novel coronavirus first emerged in Wuhan City in the province of Hubei. The said city is now under a lock-down after more than 70,000 in the mainland were infected. Also, over 2,000 people died of the disease globally.
Recently, Italy has also moved to put several of its places under a lock-down. It is in the pursuit to curb the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus which has infected over 7 thousand people in the country now.
Based on a report of CNN, the Italian government has recorded 366 coronavirus deaths. It is the most number of death cases outside China, the epicenter of the disease.
According to the report, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has approved a decree that sets travel restrictions to some parts of Italy over coronavirus. The Lombardy region and 14 provinces were covered by the order.
Among the tourist spots covered by the decree of the Italian Prime Minister are Venice and Milan. Aside from the travel restrictions set in Lombardy and 14 regions in the country, temporary closure of schools and universities are also implemented to curb the spread of the disease.
Also, events are cancelled in line with the fight against coronavirus. The people who will violate the order may face punishment of up to three (3) years of imprisonment and a 206-euros fine.
