India reported its second coronavirus (COVID-19) fatality.

India reported its second coronavirus (COVID-19) fatality as a 68-year-old woman in New Delhi who died a day after officials ordered schools, cinemas, and theaters closed.

The government in New Delhi said that a 68-year-old woman, who suffered from diabetes and hypertension, had tested positive for COVID-19, adding that her son also has tested positive for coronavirus disease.

In a statement, the government in New Delhi said that the deceased woman’s son, who was tested positive, had traveled to Switzerland and Italy in February, and went to the hospital in New Delhi on March 7, with a fever and cough.

As per protocol, the government said that the family was “screened and since he and his mother had fever and cough, both were admitted,” thus, all the precautionary measures were “already taken up by the Ministry of Health, Government of Delhi and status is being monitored.”

India previously announced its first death last Thursday, March 12, wherein a 76-year-old man, who lived in Kalburgi, has been confirmed for COVID-19. Following the first coronavirus fatality, officials ordered schools, cinemas, and theaters closed.
