Google announced that an employee at its office in Bangalore, India, has tested positive for coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

This, as Google has asked all of the other employees in its office in India to work from home out of the abundance of caution.

In a statement, a spokesperson from Google confirmed that an employee from its office in Bangalore was diagnosed with COVID-19 as its employee was “in one of our Bangalore offices for a few hours before developing any symptoms.” Google added that those who were in close contact with an infected employee have been asked to quarantine themselves.

Anand Rangarajan, director of engineering at Google, said in an internal email, accessed by TechCrunch, that the infected employee of Google “contracted the virus after traveling overseas.”

Previously, an Indian state health minister announced the first coronavirus death in India, thus, the coronavirus disease or COVID-19 infected over 70 people in India.
