Facebook Reportedly Tests Cross-posting Stories To Instagram

Facebook was reportedly testing a new Facebook-to-Instagram cross-posting feature.

Facebook was reportedly testing a new feature that would allow Facebook Stories to be cross-posted from Facebook to Instagram and vice versa.

This, as Techcruch reported that Facebook’s latest colonization of Instagram has started. The colonization came after Instagram’s co-founders left the company in late 2018 as their autonomy declined.

As of this writing, Instagram Stories can be shared to Facebook Stories, but not the vice versa. Yet, the new option from Facebook would allow Stories to be shared interchangeably from Facebook to Instagram and vice versa.

The screenshot of the Facebook-to-Instagram cross-posting feature was generated from the Facebook for Android app code by Jane Manchun Wong.

Jane Manchun Wong, a reverse engineering expert, shared a screenshot where “Share To Instagram” toggle was present on Facebook Stories. Once this feature will be available, the “Share To Instagram” toggle will appear once you tap the “Privacy”.

Moreover, the spokesperson of Facebook told Techcrunch that the company was formally testing the cross-posting feature in order “to make it easier to share moments with the people who matter to you, as people might have different audiences and followers on Facebook versus Instagram,” thus, Facebook will continue to explore options for simplifying and improving how Stories work across platforms.
