LPU Might Offer First BS in ESports in 2020

LPU, in partnership with Tier One Entertainment, might offer its new degree in ESports this year.

The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) might offer its first Bachelor of Science degree in ESports in 2020.

This, as the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) tapped ESports and gaming talent agency Tier Once Entertainment in drafting this degree in the Philippines.

Alodia Gosiengfiao, a cosplayer and a Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of Tier One Entertainment, on Wednesday announced the proposal on Tier One Entertainment’s Instagram account.

An esports course is on the way. Our CEO @trykegutierrez is at LPU, and with him is the first ever drafted curriculum for esports in the country. Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila and Tier One Entertainment are committed in making this dream a reality. We will be passing the curriculum to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on March this year. If this goes well, we might have a full course available by 2020. Following the announcement, Tryke Gutierrez, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tier One Entertainment, posted on his Facebook page, saying that the course was not all fun and games, instead, it was all about either game design or esports management.

Tier One Entertainment will be passing the ESports curriculum design to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on March 4, and might possibly be offered in LPU starting 2020.
