DOH Confirms 2 Pinoys Repatriated from Wuhan Being Checked Following Coronavirus Symptoms
PINOYS REPATRIATED FROM WUHAN – Two (2) of the 32 Filipinos from China are now being checked after experiencing a coronavirus symptom.
A lot of Filipinos are working in the mainland China. Amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in Wuhan City, many of them expressed their desire to go home to PH as they fear for their lives amid the epidemic.
The novel coronavirus infected more than 40,000 people in China and at least 900 lost their lives to it. Everyday, the records of infected individuals and deaths increase.
The Philippine government coordinated with the government of China. The repatriation of those Filipinos who wanted to go home were set.
Also, the PH government prepared facilities that would house the Pinoys who will be repatriated from China. They have to be quarantined as part of the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
One of the facilities prepared is the Athlete’s Village in Tarlac province. Currently, it is housing 32 Filipinos that recently arrived from Wuhan City, the epicenter of the outbreak in China.
The Pinoys from China arrived in a fully good state and without signs of being unwell. However, recently, two (2) of them started developing a sign of the viral disease.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, two (2) Pinoys repatriated from Wuhan experience diarrhea which is a symptom of coronavirus. It was listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) along with cough, fever, and shortness of breath.
According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, these two (2) Pinoys repatriated from Wuhan are now being checked and evaluated. There are medical staff that stay at the quarantine facility and monitor the condition of the repatriated Filipinos.
Also, the crew that fetched the Filipinos abroad are under quarantine. The quarantine period will take two (2) weeks.
