First Coronavirus Patient in PH Still Infected According to DOH
DOH – The Department of Health gave an update about the first patient of the 2019 novel coronavirus in the Philippines.
Last Thursday, the worries of a lot of Filipinos about the 2019 novel coronavirus or nCoV heightened. It was after one (1) patient was confirmed to be suffering of the said disease.
The first coronavirus case in the Philippines is a 38-year-old woman from Wuhan City, China. She was able to leave the place which is the epicenter of the disease before the lockdown.
The Chinese woman and her partner, a 44-year-old Chinese man, flew from Hong Kong to the Philippines. They arrived in Cebu last January 21. They have also visited Dumaguete City before they flew to Manila.
On January 25, 2020, the Chinese woman admitted at San Lazaro Hospital in Manila. Shortly after it, she tested positive for nCoV. Her partner was also admitted in the same hospital.
However, last Sunday, the health department confirmed that the 44-year-old Chinese man died. He was the first coronavirus death case outside the epicenter of the virus.
Recently, the DOH gave an update regarding the condition of the Chinese woman who was the first confirmed case of coronavirus in the Philippines.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the health department expressed that the patient is still in the hospital but she is not anymore sick. However, according to health Undersecretary Eric Domingo, the Chinese woman still tested positive for the virus.
“No fever, no cough, no colds. However, the latest test that was done last 48 hours was still positive but there are signs na ‘yung viral load niya bumababa na,” Domingo expressed according to the report.
The DOH Undersecretary added that the first coronavirus patient in the Philippines need to be remain in isolation. She is currently confined in San Lazaro Hospital.
