Under the DepEd Memorandum 15, series of 2020, off-campus activities, including Junior-Senior Promenade, have been canceled for this month.

Off-campus activities, as stated in the memorandum, defined as “an authorized activity relevant to learning that takes place outside the school premises, participated by learners and supervised by teachers and/or staff and other concerned stakeholders.” Meanwhile, the Work Immersion for Senior High School was not included in the suspension as it doesn’t fall under “Off-campus Activities” as mentioned in DepEd No. 66, series of 2017.

According to the Public Information Officer (PIO) of DepEd Davao, Gem Galang, the suspension of JS Prom was only intended for all off-campus activities for February alone, thus, March activities were not included. He added that the said memorandum has been distributed to all DepEd schools in order to observe the national directive issued by DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones.

The said memorandum was developed in line with the threat of the 2019 novel coronavirus, named COVID-19, and the said memorandum was only applicable to public schools, thus, it will be up to the decision of the officials of private schools should they also cancel their events.
