This is the life now of former child star Atong Redillas

Former child star Atong Redillas is living this kind of life now away from the glitz and glamour of showbiz.

Atong was one of the child stars during the 80s to 90s era. He appeared in about 40 films in his duration in the entertainment industry. Some of the movies where he was featured were Ang mahiwagang daigdig ni Elias Paniki (1989), Darna (1991) and Ex-Army (1988).

When actress-host Camille Prats joined the Little Miss Philippines 1990 of Eat Bulaga, she was escorted by Atong. He was also known for his role in the iconic sitcom John en Marsha as the youngest son of the characters of Dolphy and Nida Blanca.

Although he already established a name in the industry, Atong Redillas chose another field of career to pursue. He graduated cum laude with a degree in BA Arts Studies at the University of the Philippines. Based on the article from GMA Entertainment, the former child star is now a professor in UP Manila.

In 2017, he wrote and directed the play titled Pluwent which is about the “value of family despite the myriad highs and lows of being in one,” a Rappler’s report stated. Although he went out of the showbiz spotlight, Atong Redillas is still into performing.

He has supervised and directed many play productions for several years now. His production already did plays such as Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Ibong Adarna, Pingkian and Nardo.

In 2014, the former child star was awarded received the Gawad Chancellor’s Artist of the Year award. In one of his Facebook posts, Atong showed that he is doing stand up comedy once in a while.

In 2018, he shared a photo with a caption that showed how proud he is to his girlfriend Dr. Eleanor Beatriz Calderon Ragasa.
