Here’s the message of Leila de Lima to Manny Pacquiao
LEILA DE LIMA – The detained senator took to social media wherein she extended her gratitude to presidential aspirant Manny Pacquiao upon joining the call for her release.
Leila Norma Eulalia Josefa Magistrado de Lima, a politician, lawyer, human rights activist, and law professor is currently serving as senator of the Philippines since 2016.
Previously, she held the positions of Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights from May 2008 to June 2010, and as the Secretary of Justice from 2010 to 2015 under the administration of late president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
In 2017, she was arrested for her alleged link to the drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison during her term as the Justice secretary.
Presently, she is running for the senate again under the slate of presidential candidate, Vice President Leni Robredo.
Earlier, self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa and Bureau of Corrections OIC and star witness Rafael Ragos retracted their claims against De Lima.
Amid the retraction of their claims against the senator, some personalities called for her immediate release.
One of them is no less than senator and presidential aspirant, Manny Pacquiao.
This prompted De Lima to extend her gratitude to Pacquiao.
“Nagpapasalamat ako kay Sen @MannyPacquiao, na pagkatapos ng mahigit 5 taon, ay nanawagan na syang ako ay palayain na. May God continue to guide him,” she wrote.
“Umaasa ako na marami pang maliliwanagan sa mga gawa-gawang kaso laban sa’kin, at ng iba pang mga bilanggong politikal. #Hustisya,” she added.
Manny Pacquiao who’s running for president alongside his running mate Buhay partylist representative Lito Atienza has yet to release any response.
