Daughter Loses Mom to COVID-19, She Died Alone
DAUGHTER – A woman shared her and her brother’s painful experience of losing their mom to COVID-19.
The 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has undeniably affected everything – from the way people value health and safety, to compromising the economy and luxuries of life, to the painful fact that patients may face death without their loved ones on their bedside.
A death of a loved one will always be painful – regardless of what happened. However, COVID-19 introduced a more painful reality as the family could not be physically present while the patient is fighting against the disease.
Also, the family may also suffer from the psychological effects of possibly having contracted the disease as well. The immediate circle may be under quarantine while grieving.
The two (2) aforementioned situations are just among the most heartbreaking companies of coronavirus. They were experienced by a daughter in Quezon City who lost her mom to COVID-19.
Based on an article on ABS-CBN News, a daughter identified as “Emmy” shared her and her brother’s painful experience when they lost their mom to COVID-19. Their mother died alone while they cannot hug each other for comfort upon knowing it.
Just a few hours after their mom was intubated, Emmy received a dreadful text message that their mom died. She rushed to her younger brother’s room to tell him about it.
However, as they are both under observation, they still have to maintain a one-meter distance although the happenings are tearing them into pieces.
“It’s one of the hardest things na nangyari sa ‘min. Alam mo yun? Kahit umiiyak sya, hindi mo s’ya ma-comfort,” Emmy said.
Based on the report, Emmy’s mother had to be taken for cremation right away. Instead of holding a wake, images before her remains would be cremated were taken for her family members.
It was the last time that the daughter and their family saw her mother. According to her, it feels like her mother is not gone and is just quarantined as she is also under quarantine now and cannot see other people.
Emmy has already received the urn containing her mom’s ashes. Reportedly, they will be holding a celebration of her life once the ECQ has been lifted.
