Sen. Bong Go Speaks about Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Election 2022 Stand

BONG GO ‘- Presidential aspirant and Senator Christopher Go said that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is still considering to run in Election 2022.

Despite that Pres. Duterte has previously announced that he will retire from politics in 2022, there are still calls for him to run for another position next year. Department of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi is encouraging him to run for senator.

Previously, the 76-year-old president was nominated for vice president by his party, the PDP-Laban Cusi wing. He accepted the nomination but he did not push through with it.

During the period set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the filing of candidacies, surprisingly, it was Sen. Bong Go who filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for vice president under PDP-Laban Cusi wing. The President then announced his retirement from politics.

According to Pres. Duterte, he will just go home to Davao City and prepare his defense to the probe of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

However, recently, Sen. Bong Go expressed that Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is still considering running in Election 2022. According to him, the Chief Executive is studying carefully if running in the next election can help the country.

Presidential aspirant and PDP-Laban Cusi wing standard-bearer Sen. Bato dela Rosa believes that retirement is a hard thing for the 76-year-old President.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. dela Rosa expressed that he knows the President as someone who loves to work and who dedicates his life to public service that is why he believes that retirement from politics would be hard for him.

Sen. Go said that the President has the time to decide until November 15 and he might give his decision next week. More updates may be posted soon.
