Apple officially launched iPhone 13 series during the “California Streaming” event.
Apple officially announced its most-awaited iPhone 13 series during its online-only “California Streaming” event held Tuesday (Wednesday in the Philippines).
Apple officially announced its new iPhone 13 lineup — the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
These phones were quite similar to the iPhone 12 in terms of design, but the notch was around 20 percent smaller in width compared to its predecessors.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini
Apple’s iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini featured improved Super Retina XDR OLED displays with a 28 percent increase in max outdoor brightness and a higher peak brightness for HDR content such as videos and photos.
According to Apple, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini included a “massive leap in camera design” with a new Wide lens that gathered 47 percent more light for less noise and brighter images.
Apple had also added “sensor-shift optical image stabilization” to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, a feature that’s previously exclusive to the company’s iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The company said that this stabilized the sensor instead of the lens so that the shots were more steady, while the custom-designed Ultra-Wide lens with a new sensor captured photos with more detail in the dark areas of photos and videos with less noise.
In addition, the iPhone 13 introduced a new Cinematic mode feature, which recorded videos of pets, people, and objects with a depth effect and automatic focus changes.
The said feature was similar to the Portrait mode feature that had been available for still images. According to Apple, users can change the focus during and after capture, and can also adjust the level of bokeh in the Photos app and iMovie.
Apple was also introducing something it called “Photographic Styles”, which described as customized preferences and filters that intelligently applied the right adjustments to different parts of the image in order to ensure that the important elements were preserved.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini were both powered by A15 Bionic processor, but more details on performance improvements compared to its predecessor were unclear as of this writing.
Based on Apple’s website, the price for the iPhone 13 started at PHP 50,990 for 128GB of storage, while the price for the iPhone 13 Mini started at PHP 44,990 for 128GB of storage. However, Apple didn’t announce the availability of these iPhones in the Philippines as of this writing.
Both devices will be available in starlight, midnight, red, pink, and blue.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max
Aside from iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, Apple also introduced the new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max were powered by A15 Bionic processor and offered many of the same camera features as the non-Pro models — including Photographic Styles, Cinematic mode for video, and more.
9to5Mac reported that Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max do have their share of exclusive features.
Both models featured an Ultra-Wide lens with a 92 percent boost in low light performance, a Wide lens with up to 2.2x improvement in low-light performance, and a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom sensor.
Other camera features also include Macro photography, Smart HDR 4, ProRes video recording, and Night mode for all three camera lenses.
Notably, both the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max included new ProMotion displays for the first time, bringing an adaptive refresh rate display to the iPhone several years after it first came to the iPad Pro.
The display also supported an adaptive refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz as well.
Both devices will be available in sierra blue, graphite, gold, and silver.
Based on Apple’s website, the price for the iPhone 13 Pro started at PHP 63,990 for 128GB of storage, while the price for the iPhone 13 Pro Max started at PHP 70,990 for 128GB of storage. Notably, there’s a new 1TB storage configuration for these iPhones for the first time.
However, Apple didn’t announce the availability of these iPhones in the Philippines as of this writing.
