Microsoft was set to hold its online-only Surface hardware event on September 22.
#MICROSOFTEVENT — Microsoft officially announced that the company was set to hold its online-only Surface hardware event on September 22, 2021.
Microsoft had started sending media invites for the said event, although the company’s Surface hardware event will be online-only and not in-person.
According to a report on The Verge, Microsoft’s invite stated that the company will talk about “devices and Windows 11” and the company was expected to unveil a successor to a new Surface laptop and the Surface Duo.
The Verge also reported that leaked images of Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Duo 2 device appeared online last July and the leaked images suggested that the biggest change will be a triple-camera system, complete with an ultrawide angle lens, a telephoto lens, and a standard lens.

The Surface Duo 2 was also rumored to include Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, an NFC chip for contactless payments, and 5G support. Microsoft was also rumored to be launching a successor to the Surface Book 3.
Previously, Windows Central reported that Microsoft might not name the successor to the Surface Book 3 as the “Surface Book 4” and it’s likely to be a Surface Laptop Pro or something similar instead. That’s because Microsoft was reportedly redesigning its high-end laptop to switch to a non-detachable 14-inch display.
Based on a report on The Verge, a Windows 11 launch on October 5 wouldn’t be complete without an update to the Microsoft Surface Pro lineup as the company’s teaser image even included a Surface Pro laptop.
Earlier this year, Microsoft officially launched its refreshed Surface Pro 7 Plus but it’s only for businesses. Microsoft was also expected to launch a more refined Surface Pro design that can take advantage of the latest Windows 11 features.
