Palace on Duterte-Pacquiao relationship
DUTERTE-PACQUIAO RELATIONSHIP — Malacañang on Tuesday said that it was “obvious” that the relationship between President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Manny Pacquiao was “not as cordial as it was“.
It seemed that there’s no turning back in the breaking of the alliance between President Duterte and Senator Pacquiao as even Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque himself admitted that it was “obvious” that the political party mates were not in good terms at the moment.
When asked during his virtual press briefing on Tuesday whether the relationship between President Duterte and Senator Pacquiao has turned sour, Roque said that he didn’t even have to answer the question.
“I think it is rather obvious that the relationship between the President and Senator Pacquiao is not as cordial as it was,” Roque said.

For Roque, President Duterte’s challenge to Senator Pacquiao was to “walk the talk”.
If Senator Pacquiao had complaints about the government, Roque said that he should discuss those with President Duterte so that the latter can take actions.
“Otherwise, talaga namumulitika lang daw si Senator Pacquiao, but I guess as far as question is concerned, natapon na po ang sabaw kung baga,” Roque said.
Senator Pacquiao was the president of PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan) while President Duterte was its chairperson as the highest elected official in the party.
Not only were the two partymates, but Senator Pacquiao had also stood by President Duterte amidst different issues such as the anti-drug war.
