DOH on placing GCQ areas in the Philippines under lesser quarantine restriction.
The Department of Health (DOH) wasn’t yet recommending to place the general community quarantine (GCQ) areas in the Philippines under lesser quarantine restriction for the month of June.
However, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said in a radio interview on Saturday that the health department’s stand will still be discussed during the next meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID).
“We’re not out of the woods kumbaga, kaya ayun yung sasabihin ko kapag nag pulong kami sa Lunes. Ipapakita ko ang datos na may kataasan pa rin talaga ang mga kaso araw araw,” Duque said.
According to Duque, the “daily attack rate” is still quite high even though the number of coronavirus cases in Metro Manila was declining. Duque also expressed alarm over the increasing number of cases in other regions.
Duque then reminded the public to still adhere to the minimum public health standards even if they got inoculated against the coronavirus disease.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in a radio interview that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases already had a recommendation for the next community quarantine classification which will take effect from June 1 to 30.
According to Nograles, the new community quarantine classifications for the month of June will be announced on May 31, 2021.
“Binigyan na po natin ng pagkakataong mag-appeal ang ating iba’t ibang governors or local chief executives doon sa ating recommended na bagong community quarantine classifications. After that, ibibigay natin kay Pangulo ang final recommendation. Ia-announce natin sa Monday kung ano ‘yung magiging community quarantine classification for the month of June,” Nograles said.
