Mike Defensor responded to an issue about Ivermectin prescriptions written on a blank bond paper.
Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Mike Defensor on Friday responded to an issue about Ivermectin prescriptions written on a blank bond paper.
Defensor on Friday told CNN Philippines’ The Source that prescriptions that were written on a blank bond paper during the recent distribution of the said drug to residents in Quezon City counted as a “non-issue.”
“It’s a non-issue because you only have four doctors, you have four tables. Alam mo naman yung signature nila,” Defensor said.
Defensor, Marcoleta, and some physicians from the Concerned Doctors and Citizen of the Philippines led the distribution of the said drug to residents of Barangay Old Balara on Thursday.

The distribution of the said drug took place despite the previous warning of the Department of Health (DOH) that only hospitals which were granted special permits could give the said drug to COVID-19 patients.
Pictures of some ivermectin prescriptions which were simply written on a piece of bond paper have gone viral on social media, with netizens questioning the lack of major details — including the name, address, and the professional registration number of the physician giving out the said drug.

Prior to receiving the said drug, residents were also required to sign a waiver which hold distributors free from any legal liability as the said drug wasn’t yet registered for human use in the Philippines.
Also, Defensor explained the other steps that residents went through during the distribution of the said drug – including filling out an information sheet for pre-registration, brief consultation, and a prescription from the volunteer doctors.
Based on a report on CNN Philippines, a separate table was set up for handing out the capsules.

According to Defensor, more than 2,000 capsules were distributed to more than 200 individuals, with one recipient managing to receive 10 Ivermectin capsules.
“Ang prescription na hawak nila apat lang yan at may kanya-kanyang pirma and it’s identifiable. I don’t think it’s a problem. These are all medical and licensed doctors. We were the ones who organized it with them. They can easily identify who the doctors are if need be,” Defensor explained.
However, Defensor noted that according to existing guidelines imposed by the national government, doctors may get their licenses revoked for prescribing the said drug.
